Analysis ②｜A Prayer for ARMY’s Awakening

This song feels like a prayer from those who have awakened to those who are still asleep. When V asks, “Why don’t you stop this?” — it’s not reproach, it’s a call to awaken. Through lyrics, MVs, and symbols, BTS keep urging us: Don’t stay silent. Recognize truth. Take action.

The album Map of the Soul: 7 was released on February 21, 2020. A month later, I posted my analysis of “ON,” and the wave of awakening spread among ARMY worldwide. Then on June 12, 2020, the “Eternal” MV was released.

The Whalien 52 whale represents the awakened ARMYs rising with BTS. At the end of the MV, the whales ascend toward light — a vision of BTS and ARMY walking together toward the “Spring Day.”

So this song isn’t a farewell. It’s a song of reunion — a message of hope for those who continue the prayer.

My Experience

When I truly understood this song, I felt their willingness to fight even if it meant risking their lives — and it scared me. I didn’t want to lose the people who saved mine. But that fear became my drive to act.

When I awakened to truth, I thought: “Why is no one saying this?” I hadn’t watched TV for ten years, so I didn’t know what the world had become. But I realized: If others are fighting now, I must act too. Waiting to be saved won’t save anyone.

That’s why I didn’t stop.

I was labeled “mentally ill” for fighting with justice. Even now, I face trials. But I want to change this world — a world where those who fight for truth suffer the most. We must act together, for the children who will inherit the future.

BTS taught me how to live, how to have courage. Until the “Spring Day” truly comes, I’ll keep walking with them — no matter what.
